Turn to Seed 06:30
Turn to seed Turn to seed. Turn to seed. Turn to seed. Our eyes though the same size Are wider now. Having seen love come and go, and come again. Having seen love come again. After rain. (And after rain) Fruit rot and grow. (Fruit rot and grow) After death. (And after death) Bones to clay. ( Bones turn to clay) As flesh turns to seed Our hearts still beat. Beating louder than the sea. The roaring sea. Louder than the roaring sea. Turn to seed. Turn to seed. Turn to seed.

We breathe thought and taste, dreams and love. Thought, taste, dreams and love. Fight and desire. Pink as the dawn.

Hidden bounty Black roots turn to red fruits. Scorched seed to sweet mead. With juice that stains skin Like sweet sin. Fruit that coaxes taste alive. Ground that swells with growth, Painful beauty. Hidden bounty. Bounty. Our eyes see Paradise. Bounty. Black roots turn to red fruits. Scorched seed to sweet mead. With juice that stains skin Like sweet sin. Love as hot as aching peach. Flowers purple proud. Brazen bronzes. Dawn pinks blushing. Blushing. Our eyes see Paradise. Blushing Our eyes see Paradise. Blushing

Paradise 03:46
PARADISE Carey/Murphy Our eyes see Paradise Our hearts beating louder Feel hope come again Love where love was not Our eyes, though the same size have seen Paradise Come and go and come again Come and go and come again Our hearts still beat, beating louder now Louder than the roaring sea. Louder than the roaring sea. Our eyes see Paradise Our hearts beating louder Feel hope come again Love where love was not Our hands though much broader have felt hope Come and go and come again Come and go and come again Our lips full of words, having tasted wines That intoxicate Promise love where love was not Our eyes see Paradise Our hearts beating louder Feel hope come again Love where love was not Our eyes see Paradise Our hearts beating louder Feel hope come again Love where love was not

First Breath 06:28
First Breath First breath defies death, pink as the dawn, the first born. Into their mouths, clean of words and song. We breathe thought and taste, dreams and love. Thought, taste, dreams and love. Fight and desire. Pink as the dawn. They grow to feel the forest floor, And smell the gorse and sea, fruits that taste. Gorse, sea fruits that taste Of sun and fire Pink as the dawn. There’s mud and blood, blood and mud, unweathered skin. Pink as the dawn. The first born. First breath defies death. From blue to grey. Like night to day. First breath defies death, pink as the dawn, the first born. First breath defies death. From blue to grey. Like night to day. First breath defies death, pink as the dawn, the first born.

about

First Breath is a passionate story, told on a grand scale by over a thousand Cornish singers and instrumental soloists.

Somewhere between a ‘concept album’ and a modern world symphony of interrelated movements, the First Breath album appeals to a ‘world music’ audience, choral enthusiasts and many more besides. Within the album, Carey creates an ever-changing emotional landscape with his distinctive rhythmic and harmonic structure. The epic, orchestral and choral title track, ‘First Breath’, tells of the life struggle that man and plants share. The joyful ‘After Rain’ speaks of Carey’s celtic roots. Hidden Bounty and Paradise showcases Carey’s own voice and distinctive use of vocal harmony and rhythm.

The First Breath album features a bonus track, which stands outside of the First Breath project – A New Day Will Come
